Sunbird and Mozilla Calendar Notes and Queries

Using Mozilla or Firefox with the calendar extension? or the stand-alone Sunbird?

These notes were originally written round Calendar 0.8 with Mozilla 1.1, September 2002

They were revisited and revised to bring them up to date for Sunbird 0.2, the stand-alone Calendar release of January 2005

Comma Handling

Tried including a sentence in the description field and finding that you don't see all of it in the calendar?

Check that your description does not include a comma, Calendar 0.8 and Sunbird 0.2 both truncate the 'text' fields in the Summary and Description at a comma.

The test files are also downloadable with a text/plain MIME type so you can read it.

This behaviour is actually what should be happening for a calendar program that follows the RFC 2445 specification. The detail is given in section 4.3.11. Commas are used as separators when you need to give a number of arguments so the have to be escaped (as a 'backslash comma') within a summary, description or whatever. See:
